Starfighter Buck Rogers in the Century XXV: story, characters, and legacy of an iconic science fiction series

Buck Rogers is a character from science-fiction which first appeared in the novel "Armageddon 2419 A. D." written by Philip Francis Nowlan published in 1928 in the magazine pulp "Amazing Stories". The story follows Anthony Rogers, who is a character that is frozen in suspended animation in 1927, and awakens in the year 2419. In this future, Earth is at war with an alien race called "Hans" and Rogers becomes a fighter brave against these invaders.

The character of Buck Rogers was very influential in popular culture and helped to popularize the science fiction in the 1920s. Their adventures were adapted to comic books, movies, radio programs, and television series, becoming an icon of science fiction in the 1930s and beyond. One of the most notable aspects of the history of the Buck Rogers is its influence on the genre of the "pulps", which were popular magazines of science fiction and adventures in the first half of the TWENTIETH century. In addition, Buck Rogers also influenced other characters, and works of science fiction later, including characters such as Flash Gordon.

Synopsis:
After the battle with the Draconians, a pilot crashes in the desert free of radiation, years after it begins to form a swamp.

NASA sent to deep space spacecraft test Ranger III. By a rain of meteorites, the ship deviates from the planned orbit and is left to drift for five hundred years. Its sole occupant, captain William "Buck" Rogers, is found in suspended animation by a ship of the Empire Draconian, in the year 2491. Once thawed, the confused, Buck learns that the Draconians, a people warlike, plans an attack and invasion surprise to the Earth. Buck escapes in the Ranger III, and comes to our futuristic world, where he is received with some suspicion by the authorities, because they suspect is a spy from the Empire Draconian. But as it adapts to this world from the century XXV, is gaining friends who lend ear to their warnings, just when the ship "draconia one" is orbiting the planet Earth.

(TV series.) (1979-1981). 2 seasons. 32 episodes.Characters: captain William "Buck" Rogers (Gil Gerard), the Colonel Wilma Deering (Erin Gray), Dr. Elias Huer (Tim O'connor), and the little robot Twiki (Felix Silla). In this first season, Buck was a member of the Directory of Defence. The second season of the series, which began in 1981, showed another frame, with Buck and Wilma aboard the "Searcher", a space ship in search of "lost tribes" in the Earth.
